The After Party n. a graduation celebration for the 2017 Screen Arts cohort from the “Performing and Screen Arts” bachelor’s degree.
After three hard years of completing a film degree, the third years from the Screen Arts course (who reside in the film and television building down the Gate 2 side of campus) decided it was time to organize an event that celebrated all of their blood, sweat and tears that went into earning their degree. Event organizers Rosie Stanton and Emma Morgan decided to theme this event with a Hollywood theme and named it “The After Party”, which is only fitting considering the nature of their degree.
It was decided that the event was to be held at “The Cupid Bar” (formerly known as The Montage Bar) which is situated, conveniently, at the Pt. Chev shops. This turned out to be a great decision as the location truly matched the theme of the night, the bar is renovated from an old cinema which helped create a nice “Hollywood Glam” environment. The bar provided an excellent selection of platters, they had amazing antipasto and cheese platters that were very popular with our guests, and they also organized with the Kebab shop next door a few hot chip platters which were also very popular! It was great to see the local businesses supporting each other. We would definitely recommend hosting your event at “The Cupid Bar” for their positive and friendly environment, they have an amazing selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and it’s nice to be able to contribute to the local businesses near Unitec.
The event itself ran really smoothly. Our guests were pleasantly surprised by the Photo Booth we had booked – as you can see by the photo, our guests thoroughly enjoyed its services. The service we used was “InstaBooth NZ” – check them out on Facebook! They are a very responsive and fun group of people. Ultimately, our guests had a great time with this event and so did we! It was a great way to end our time at Unitec and it would not have happened without the funding we received from the Unitec Student Council. A huge thank you from us to Student Council and the Student Initiated Events team, you enabled us to have a fabulous night that we will always remember as a highlight to our time at Unitec. If you are thinking of organizing an event that is Unitec related, please get in contact with this awesome group of people. They are here to help you like they helped us!
