Kia Ora, Malo e lelei, Fakaalofa atu and Warm Greetings!
My name is Helen Vea. I was born and raised in Auckland. I am of Tongan and Niuean descent. My parents taught me to be Honest, Respectful and to Work Hard. Growing up in a big family helped space the person I am today. I am the third youngest of 8 children, an aunt to 4 handsome nephews, and a mother to a beautiful daughter. And I also care for two energetic Huskie dogs, Bones and Bobby Ray.
I am studying a Bachelor of Social Practice. I chose this career path because I am passionate about providing support for people. Social Workers are “Agents of Change”, and my hope is to use my passion to create Positive Change for You, by Representing Your Voice.
Here is a quote that represents what I wish to do if given the opportunity to be on the council.
“Do the best you can until you know better, then when you know better, do better.”
– Maya Angelou
I look forward to meeting you and talking about what I can do, to best support you, on your journey here at Unitec.
Thank you very much.
