Hello, #UnitecStudents! We’re back for this week’s #WednesdaysDoYouKnow. The aim of this section is to introduce to you some topics that may be of high interest to you (or not) and I hope we can start a conversation about it and meet more like-minded students around the campus. For this Wednesday, I’m here to introduce to you our very own Experience New Zealand trips.

This semester we’ll be getting off the beaten track and discovering the real New Zealand. Our guides are passionate about New Zealand and can’t wait to show o the country at student friendly prices. We’ve put together an incredible itinerary of day and weekend adventures for 2017. Welcome Party – 28 July, 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm

Come along to the official Welcome Party held at the campus bar, Carrington’s Pumphouse! Bring a flag representing your country and meet up with peers from your homeland, other nations and of course your hosts –The Kiwis. Free food provided, a local DJ with games and prizes and more importantly, a FREE event!

Night-Lights of Auckland City – 3 August, departs 6:00 pm

Get ready to discover your new town at night! Combine hustling markets with the sky tower from a different point of view and the heart of the city’s entertainment and you have the night-lights of Auckland City.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Look over Auckland City from One Tree Hill
  • Visit one of the bustling Auckland Night Markets
  • Cross the Harbour Bridge

Night-Lights of Auckland City – 18-20 August, departs 9:00 am

Rotorua is one of North Island’s adrenaline adventure destinations! Get ready to experience some great Kiwi adventure activities, learn about our local Māori culture, visit Hobbiton and discover the beauty of the central North Island!

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Eat a traditional Māori hangi feast
  • Enjoy an authentic cultural performance in the evening
  • Raft through steep rapids and over a 7m waterfall
  • Short walk in the Redwoods Forest

Auckland vs Taranaki Rugby Match – 9 September, departs 12:30 pm

NZ’s national sport, rugby union! Here is your chance to attend a rugby match at Eden Park and watch Auckland take on Taranaki in the Mitre 10 Cup tournament.

Rangitoto Island Hike – 16 September, departs 8:00 am

Take a day out to cruise across the Hauraki Harbour to the youngest and largest Volcano in Auckland, Rangitoto! Once on the Island, take in all the sights as we walk to the Summit with 360 ̊ views.

Te Henga Walkway – Bethells Beach to Muriwai Hike – 28 October, departs 9:00 am

Auckland’s wild west coast is famous for its rough seas, black sand and incredible coastal scenery. We have the opportunity to take you on the spectacular Te Henga Walkway which links Bethells beach to Muriwai. Once we arrive at Muriwai, a BBQ lunch will be waiting for you.

  • 3.5 hour hike with spectacular views overlooking Auckland’s wild west coast
