What inspired you to take this course and career path?
I recognise that Managerial skills are important to excel in every area of one’s life, not just in Business. Hence, Operations Management was the most flexible course I could choose to pursue my diverse career aspirations.
Why did you decide to become a Student Rep?
This role requires a sense of responsibility as well as provides a chance to learn and apply team leadership and management skills. I saw this as an important on-campus experience coming back to college after almost five years and so, decided to go ahead with it.
What changes do you hope to achieve as a Rep this semester?
I hope to improve the channels of communication between the student body and the management.
If you have to bake or cook for others, what is your ‘signature dish?’
Curry and Indian Bread.
Where is your hometown and what is the best thing about it?
I hail from Amritsar (India) – The City of Golden Temple, which is a really good example of religious tolerance and harmony between different cultures.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
I have travelled extensively, but Melbourne seems to be the one place I would always like to go back to.
What is the book or movie that has influenced you the most and why?
Still Alice – a story of family ties, emotions, passions and aspirations, letting go, and finding and dealing with the realities of life. It talks about a Linguistics Professor’s struggle with the Alzheimer’s.
What was your first job (or if you haven’t had a job, your first big responsibility)?
Teaching in a remote village in the Himalayas.
Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
Excelling in my personal and professional life and at peace with myself.
